COMMUNITY REAPS REWARDS FROM MARATHON

Pounding the streets of Port Fairy for miles and miles has turned into a lucrative activity for the community.

The Port Fairy Marathon has announced it has put over $120,000 back into the community from its 2026 event.

The event is a fundraiser for Port Fairy Consolidated Primary School, with its reward this year coming in at $90,025.37.

But the love was also shared throughout the town, with nine other groups receiving funding for the role they played in delivering the event.

The marathon attracted athletets from across the state, with over 2000 entries.

The groups and what they received are:

Port Fairy Consolidated School $90,025.37, Port Fairy Surf Life Saving Club $10,000, Syngap Research Fund Australia $8078.05, Port Fairy Little Athletics $4000, Port Fairy Soccer Club $2500, Port Fairy Football Netball Club $2500, Port Fairy Run Club $1000, Port Fairy Sea Scouts $1000, Toolong CFA $1000, Return the Trees Port Fairy $670.
