MAYOR BACKS IN CITY’S BUSINESS CENTRE | VIDEO

Warrnambool City Council mayor has backed in the CBD’s business sector, despite recent store closures.

This week, long standing businesses Faull’s Shoes and Daizy Boutique both announced they would be closing down.

Both stores are in the midst of, or about to, begin closing down sales.

Mayor Ben Blain said council continued to work hard with businesses in the city to ensure they have the support they need.

“I’m confident in the Warrnambool economy, we are really lucky the economy is going well,” Cr Blain said.

“It is hard out there, we’re seeing more and more taxes, we’re seeing it’s getting harder but businesses are resilient and the spend is still there, but it is getting tighter.

“I think it will be alright, I’ve got full confidence in the Warrnambool economy, that it will continue to move forward.”

Cr Blain acknowledged the contribution of Daizy Boutique and Faull’s Shoes and said the closures provide opportunities for other possible business ventures.
