OVER A MILLION TAKE UP DISCOUNT

After a slow start due to technical difficulties, many south west residents joined those across the state in big numbers to claim a car registration disciount.

The Victorian government has reported more than a million people have applied for the 20 per cent off car registration.

The discount is aimed at offsetting the still high cost of fuel due to the war in the Middle East.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety Ros Spence said the discount provided practical help.

“This is real help that is putting money back in the pockets of Victorians,” Ms Spence said.

When the discount opened on Monday morning, it was not accessible as the Service Victoria website crashed for serval hours due to a high volume of users.
