South west youth who have to face court will find their case is pushed through the system at a more rapid race in the future.
The state government has announced an investment of $117.5 million to deliver a fast-tracked youth court list in the County Court.
The investment is the next step in the new bail laws and Adult Time for Violent Crime laws in Victoria.
The government said the new laws were working, claiming bail refusals and revocations were at record highs.
The funding will also cover the construction of new youth holding cells at the County Court.
“We’re reducing violent youth crime with serious consequences and early interventions,” Attorney-General and Minister for Violence Reduction Sonya Kilkenny said.
“Labor is backing our courts to deliver serious consequences – sooner.”
