ONE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AS INVESTIGATORS ARRIVE AT THE SCENE OF A SHED FIRE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE

Fire investigators are attending the scene of a shed fire that broke out overnight in Mepunga East.

According to a CFA Spokesperson, investigators arrived at the scene at around 8AM this morning to attempt to determine the cause.

Reports came in of a 20x10m shed fully involved in fire at around 6PM last night.

It prompted a multi-brigade response, with units from Warrnambool, Panmure, Cudgee, Allansford, Mepunga and other Curdies group appliances.

It’s believed the shed was full of tools, with a damage bill expected in the $100,000’s.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said crews arrived at the scene just before 6:30PM, where they treated a man in his 40s for various injuries.

“Paramedics were called to this incident just after 6:30pm last night’, he said.

“A man in his 40s was treated for upper body injuries and was taken in a stable condition to South West Healthcare Warrnambool,” he said.

The fire was brought under control at around 7:15PM. It took crews until 9:15 PM to put a stop to the event.

“Crews started blacking out the fire around 8PM an we kept one tanker at the scene overnight to ensure there were no hotspots”, a CFA spokesperson said.

In another incident, CFA Crews attended a single-car accident at Nirranda South at around 9:45.

“Crews arrived to find a car had driven into a tree on Baileys Road at Nirranda South”, the spokesperson said.

“There were initial fears that there was a person trapped, but they had removed themselves from the vehicle,” they said.

The occupants didn’t require any assistance from Ambulance Victoria, and the vehicle was towed.
