Port Fairy’s Griffiths Island will be closed to the public on Thursday (today) evening from 5pm.
The closure will be to allow professional contractors on site to shoot foxes.
Safety officers will be on site and Victoria Police have been informed.
The island will re-open on Friday morning.
The foxes are a danger to the short-tail shearwater birds on the island.
