RELPH’S MIRACLE COMEBACK

Warrnambool motorcycle rider Tayla Relph has overcome an horrific crash on the weekend to record a top 10 finish in the Netherlands.

Competing in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship, Relph came to grief at turn one in race one at the TT Assen Circuit.

Relph hit the ground and was ran over by three bikes as she skiddled across the surface.

She was attended to by the medical team and taken to hospital for observation.

Incredibly, she was able to compete the next day and defied the odds to finish in eighth place in race two.

Relph said it was a weekend that could have been.

“I gave it everything I had today and honestly, I am proud of what we achieved,” Relph said.

“From waking up this morning not knowing if I could race, to recovering a P8 this afternoon in Race two and salvaging whatever points we could.

“I dug deep in that last lap and got myself back to the group battling for fourth place.

“Honestly from being a tumbled weed and getting hit by three bikes, to recover to a P8 finish less than 24 hours later, I will take that.”
