The Harris brothers were champion rovers who played for Mortlake before making their mark on the big time.

Bernie played 46 games for Fitzroy, 56 for the Brisbane Bears and five for St Kilda. He kicked 118 goals from his 107 games. When his career finished in the AFL he returned to coach Terang and went on to play in the Bloods 1995 premiership.

His older brother, Leon, played 186 games for Fitzroy, was runner-up in the Lions best and fairest and represented Victoria.

In 1975 as a teenager, Harris starred for Mortlake to help the Cats win what turned out to be their last ever senior premiership.
