FUNDING COMES FOR FOOD SHARE

Western District Food Share will receive new funding from the state government.

A $1.1 million allocation will be split towards food shares in Warrnambool, Geelong, Bendigo, Shepparton, Mildura, Wodonga, Moira Shire and the Regional Food Security Alliance.

It is part of a $2.7 million food relief package put together by the Victorian government.

The funding is aimed at helping families who are struggling with cost-of-living pressures.

Premier Jacinta Allan said no family should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

“This funding is going straight to the frontline, right now,” Ms Allan said.

“It won’t solve every problem but it’s immediate help we can provide right now to people who need it most.”
