MAN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED CATTLE THEFT

Colac Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following the alleged theft of cattle in Pirron Yallock in February.

Up to 40 cattle were allegedly stolen from the property on McCorkells Road sometime between February 19-25.

A 34-year-old man from the Colac region was arrested and interviewed in March.

He was charged with theft and attempt obtain property by deception on April 20.

The man will be appear before the Colac Magistrates’ Court on August 24.

The cows are safe and will be returned to their owner.

The investigation into a similar incident at another farm on McCorkells Road in December 2025 remains ongoing.
