Fletcher Jones Australia has announced it will cease operating, closing it’s final two stores in Melbourne, its warehouse in Williamstown and the online store.
It marks a sad day for the iconic brand which was created in Warrnambool by Sir Fletcher Jones, operating from its Warrnambool based factory.
In a statement sent to customers, the company advised that over the next month or so, the company will sell all remaining stock, before closing its doors all together.

It cited that economic conditions in the clothing industry have made it extremely difficult, and with reduced sales and rising costs, it’s become increasingly difficult to operate.
The decision marks a sad end to the final chapter of a business that revolutionised the clothing industry, before it’s factory in Warrnambool closed, and the brand moved to it’s current form.
In 2023, Fitzmedia produced ‘Pleasant Hill’ A Full Story documentary of the site which Sir Fletcher’s iconic factory was built, and operated from over a number of decades.
