POLICE INVESTIGATE SUSPICIOUS FIRE.

Members of the Warrnambool and District Angling Club have been left seeking answers, after a jetty at the Hopkins River was damaged by fire.

According to witnesses, they believe they could hear what sounded like fireworks exploding near the jetty near Lyndoch around midnight Sunday.

Upon investigating the area Monday morning, members discovered the jetty was badly burned and damaged.

Emergency services were called to the Lyndoch Boat Ramp off Hopkins Road following reports of a fire at the jetty about 5am.

There were no persons present at the time and no injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
