OPERATION ROAD WISE SUCCESS

More than 1000 offenses a day were committed during Victoria Police‘s Operation Roadwise.

The operation, which ran from December 18 to January 1, recorded 15,300 offences in 15 days.

Driving impaired was again a major issue, with 659 drink drivers and 434 drug drivers caught.

Mobile phone offences numbered 513, while 6820 speeding offences were recorded.

Road Policing Assistant Commissioner, Glenn Weir, branded the high number of offenses as “unacceptable”.
