Police and emergency services responded to a collision in Kirkstall on Thursday, 28 May.
It is understood that a Nissan Pulsar and a Mitsubishi Pajero collided at the intersection of Penhurst-Port Fairy and Penhurst-Warrnambool roads about 8pm.
The driver of the Nissan, a 35-year-old QLD man, was airlifted to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Three dogs were located deceased inside the vehicle.
The driver and only occupant in the Mitsubishi, a 66-year-old man from the Hawkesdale area, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Investigations into the collision remain ongoing.
