A: A Tip.
They are now known as waste facilities, but for generations it was the Tip.
Cars with boots and trailers full would head off on weekends to go to the Tip and put just about anything in there.
One of Warrnambool’s longest lasting tips was the site that is now the Harris Street Oval.
This was in operation through the late 1970s and early 1980s.
And like many old tips, it was re-purposed when it was full and covered over.
Harris Street became sporting grounds, with the composted waste underneath helping make a beautiful surface on top.
