The 2026 Hampden Football Netball League season will kick off this Friday, when South Warrnambool take on Koroit in a Good Friday blockbuster.
On the eve of the new season, we thought it was the perfect time to look at the first quarter-of-a-century of Hampden league football.
We have come up with a Best of Team from this period, which is technically 26 years but COVID makes it 25.
(While there was no premiership in 2021, enough games were played for club’s to award best and fairests so are counting that season).
Of course the team is stacked with Koroit players, given the Saints won 10 flags during this period.
But there are great players from a large selection of the clubs.
I am sure there are some big names I have forgotten, so apologies if that’s the case, and some others that were painfully unlucky.
