Energy providers in the south west will be forced to provide three hours of free power on a daily basis.
The Victorian goverment said the Midday Power Saver offer will begin on Octber 1.
This is seen by the government as a way of significantly cutting energy bills and reducing pressure on peak demand times.
Under the offer, the three hours of free power will be available during the middle of the day.
Premier Jacinta Allan said families could save up to $300 per year off their energy bills – more if they have solar and batteries.
“It’s another reason why working from home can save you time and money,” Ms Allan said.
Minister for Energy and Resources Lily D’Ambrosio said the Liberal would block renewable energy and send power bills up.
