CFA MEMBER HURT DURING PLANNED BURN

A south west CFA member is in a serious but stable condition after being injured in a planned burn yesterday.

CFA Acting Chief Officer Alen Slijepcevic said the member suffered a number of burns and was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital.

“CFA’s members from southwest region and headquarters are working with the member and their family to ensure they are supported at this time,” Mr Slijepcevic said.

“Worksafe has been notified and attended.

“Planned burning in District 5 and 6 has been postponed today to ensure appropriate wellbeing of our members.

“Planned burning will continue later this week in District 5 and 6, pending weather, and is an important tool to reduce fuel loads.”
