ERMACORA A NO SHOW FOR RALLY

The only Warrnambool-based state or federal member of parliament currently in government will not attend a public rally in the city this weekend focusing on the conditions of the roads.

A spokesperson for Member for Western Victoria Jacinta Ermacora said she would not be in attendance for the Broken Roads, Broken Promises Rally.

The date for the rally was announced in February.

The rally will be held at the Civic Green at 12 noon, and has been organised by Michael White and Paul Povh, the team behind the popular Facebook page and podcast, Hogs, Cogs and Two Aussie Flogs.

Earlier this year the pair organised a similar rally in Melbourne, with 1500 people attending.

Ms Ermacora’s spokesperson acknowledged the rally would be well attended, but said Ms Ermacora would not be attending personally as she already had commitments this weekend.

The spokesperson said the state government had invested $976 million into maintenance works on Victoria’s arterial road network, with 70 per cent of this going into rural roads.

“We’re also planning for further works along Cobden Warrnambool Road between Rollos Road and Bartons Road, and will keep the community informed as plans progress,” the spokesperson said.

“Our crews conduct weekly inspections of the Princes Highway in Warrnambool to monitor road conditions and complete any necessary repairs.”
