A block of land belonging to Warrnambool City Council may soon be sold.
The land is located in Timor Street and is currently leased to the Warrnambool Bowls Club.
The club wishes to erect a roof over its greens, which occupies the leased land.
To build the roof, the club would need to own the land, hence the request to council to sell it to the club.
Warrnambool City Council CEO Andrew Mason said the club has approached Council with a plan to buy the land at market value.
“The proposal would see Council sell the land to the club for $500,000, with a condition that the land be retained as a bowling green for a period of 15 years,” Mr Mason said.
“Interested residents are encouraged to make a submission on the proposal which can be done through www.yoursaywarrnambool.com.au – or you can post a letter to Council.”
Council is keen on hearing public feedback before making a final decision on whether the sale of land proceeds.  Â
