CRICKET WINNERS CROWNED

Warrnambool Moyne and District Cricket Association crowned its champion players for 2025-26 on Wednesday night.

Mortlake veteran Clinton Baker polled 15 votes to win the Premier Grade award.

Baker is no stranger to league honours, having woin the South West Cricket Association’s cricketer of the year four times.

It was also some high achievers who won the womens award.

Hawkesdale’s Scarlett O’Donnell and Dennington’s Rachel Sabo shared the cricketer of the year title, both polling 18 votes.

Both players have won this award before.

Other cricketer of the year awards went to Koroit’s Josh Campbell (championship), Warrnambool’s Jason Greer (division two), Wangoom’s Matthew Rook (division three) and Dennington’s Jamie Baulch (division four).

The mens team of the year was:

Kade Parker (Allansford-Panmure), Hank Schlaghecke (North Warrnambool), Shashan Silva (Allansford-Panmure), Ed Taylor (Northern Raiders), Tim Ludeman (Nestles), Sanjaya Fernando (Dennington), Heshan De Silva (Russells Creek), Jason Perera (Port Fairy), Joe Kenna (Allansford-Panmure), Mo Abbas (Port Fairy), Dilip Tharaka (Dennington), Saman Gonawala (Mortlake).

The womens team of the year was:

Rachel Sabo (Nestles), Scarlett O’Donnell (Hawkesdale), Jaz Bowater (Hawkesdale), Annabel Wenn (Dennington), Hannah Neal (Warrnambool), Gabby Lenehan (Nestles), Isabelle Kelly (Allansford-Panmure), Lucy Neal (Warrnambool), Tara Elliott (Hawkesdale), Laura Lee (Warrnambool), Charlotte Wythe (North Warrnambool), Brooke Herbertson (Russells Creek).
