SOUTH WEST STARS AIM FOR GLORY

Three talented south west cricketers will play a key part in a shot at history this weekend.

Koroit’s Steph Townsend, Dunkeld’s Jess Field and Mortlake’s Annabelle Glossop will be part of the Geelong team to play in the Victorian Premier Cricket Women’s First XI grand final on Saturday.

Geelong has never won a women’s first X1 premiership.

Townsend will play an extra important role as captain of the team.

The Cats got close last year, finishing runners-up.

They will go into the grand final against Melbourne without star player, Port Campbell’s Milly Illingworth, who is unavailable due to Women’s National Cricket League duties in Queensland.
