RESTORATION ALMOST COMPLETE

The restoration of the Thompson Memorial Fountain in Hamilton is almost compete.

The project to restore the iconic fountain has been undertaken by Southern Grampians Shire Council.

The final protective seal has been applied to the fountain to ensure a long-lasting finish.

The fountain will remain out of operation for a short curing period, allowing the finish to properly set.

The fountain is located in the Hamilton Botanic Gardens and and has stood there since 1919.

The Victorian Premier of the day, John Bowser, officially opened the fountain.

It was built in honour of John Thomson, a local member of parliament who served for more than two decades.

The last time the fountain was restored was in 1988.
