Speeding drivers will be a major focus for police during the Australia Day long weekend.
Victoria Police will begin Operation Amity tomorrow, with speeding on the top of the crack-down list.
In 2025, speeding was the highest contributing factor in fatal collisions, contributing to at least 30 per cent of fatalities.
Operation Amity will also have zero tolerance for drink and drug driving, with police saying motorists should expect to be tested anywhere, anytime at alcohol and drug testing sites operating across the state over the weekend.
The start of 2026 has already seen 12 lives lost of Victorian Roads.
