Emergency services were called to reports a freight train had struck a car at a railway crossing on Reddies Road at Cressy about 10.15am this morning.
The two occupants of the car, who are yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
The train driver and two staff were the only occupants at the time of the collision.

The circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established and an investigation is ongoing.
