A: The Drive Inn.
Warrnambool got an early Christmas present in 1956, when the Shandon Drive-Inn Theatre opened for the first time on December 19.
It was an exciting event and kept the staff of 10 in the cafe, and 12 car attendants on the go.
At the foot of the screen was a playground, with the area capable of hosting 600 cars.
The first feature films shown were Has Anybody Seen My Girl and The Far Country.
For the next three decades, the Drive Inn was a popular night-time destination.
It closed in 1985, with the introduction of the VHS home video blamed for its demise.
The site would become home to a Mitre 10 before its current use as Callaghan’s Motors.
