The Victorian government has stepped up its aim to take distractions away from school children.
Premier Jacinta Allan has announced smartwatches and headphones will be banned from both state and independent schools.
The ban will be introduced in January next year.
It is an advancement of the Victorian government’s 2020 ban on smart phones in schools.
The government has pointed to evidence such as greater physical activity, less cyber bullying and increased classroom attention spans since applying limited access to social technology.
