COACHES TO REPLACE FREE TRAINS

The onset of April has seen the beginning of free travel on V/Line services for south west residents.

It is part of a state government proclamation of free public transport for the month of April.

This has been introduced as a way of taking pressure off the state’s fuel supply as the war in the Middle East continues.

But it will not be just train users of the Warrnambool to Melbourne V/Line service that will travel for free.

From April 11 to 24, maintenance and upgrades on the Warrnambool line will send passengers onto coaches.

During this time coaches will replace trains between Wyndham Vale and Warrnambool. Trains will run between Wyndham Vale and Southern Cross.

Coaches will depart Warrnambool line stations earlier than usual time, with users urged to check timetables.

Those who plan to use the service during this time are asked to allow for an extra 40 minutes travel time.

The period in question will encompass the second week of school holidays.
