KOALA DRAGGED ALONG TOWN STREET

A koala is unlikely to survive what appears to be a violent and senseless act.

Just after 5pm today, the koala was seen being dragged along the road by a rope tied to the back of a ute.

This took place in King Street, Koroit, with the koala eventually taken by the ute owner and dumped at Victoria Park.

A Koroit resident who witnessed the incident found the koala at Victoria Park and called Mosswood Wildlife who turned up to gather the koala and take it to be cared for.

Police have been contacted to investigate the incident.

The ute involved was an older Toyota Hilux with a metal tool tub on the back.

Anyone who may have seen the incident, or has dashcam or security vision, is encouraged to contact Koroit police or Crimestoppers.
