STRONG FIELD FOR ELECTIONS

Competition will be keen for the election of the south west’s representatives on the Victorian First Peoples’ Assembly.

The election will begin on Saturday, March 21, with three south west representatives to be chosen.

There are 14 candidates for these positions.

The candidates are:

Tarni Morris, Stephen Walsh, Claudette Lovett, Peter-Shane Rotumah, Nellie Flagg, Richard Collopy, Macaylah Johnson, John Clarke, Joey Chatfield, Nathan Lovett-Murray, Christopher Saunders, Nikki Foy, Leanne Paterson and Michael Mookeye Bell.

To vote, south west first nations people need to register online at www.firstpeoplesvic.org

The south west is one of five regional areas to have three representatives on the assembly, while there is 10 representatives from Melbourne.

A further 10 seats will be reserved for traditional owner groups, with Eastern Maar part of that grouping.
