DANGEROUS AUTUMN FIRE CONDITIONS

While summer may be gone, the risk of fires has not abated.

The Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council has released its seasonal outlook for Autumn.

With a higher chance of warmer maximum temperatures and a drier than normal rainfall outlook, most of Victoria is expected to face an increased risk of fire this Autumn.

Members of the council’s hierarchy have come together to push home the seriousness of the situation to Victorians.

CFA acting chief officer Alen Slijepcevic re-enforced the message.

“While conditions remain dry with little rain forecast in certain parts of the state over coming months, the fire risk will continue but our crews are ready and will adapt to changes as they develop through autumn,” Mr Slijepcevic said.

“Victorians should continue to maintain their properties and stay informed of their local risks so they can take action to protect their families in the event of a fire.”
