PARTIAL CLOSE FOR BRIDGE

The Gipps Street bridge in Port Fairy will be partially closed on Monday from 9.30am, while speed hump lines are repainted.

Traffic management will be in place.

Moyne Shire Council has confirmed construction on a new bridge will begin in April 2027.

It will take a minimum six months to complete.

As a comparison, Edwards Bridge in Warrnambool was re-built in 2022 and took 11 months to finish.

Funding for the new bridge will come from federal government ($5 million) and council ($2.76 million).

Council will provide an update on the tender process for the build next week.
