Portland’s Brock Hallett is well on the way to winning a second Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic after winning the opening night of the three day event Friday night.
The 2023 Classic Champion started from 12th position, and managed to make his way to the front with five laps to go, pulling a slide job on Matt Egel on the third turn.

Warrnambool based racer Peter Doukas was also on rails, amongst the lead pack for most of the race, but ran in to some trouble towards the end of the race.
Eventually it was Matt Egel who finished second ahead of Tasmanian racer Jock Goodyer.
